    Many residents are surprised by the bill after leaving a dirty apartment or home

    San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/21/2013 -- According to new statistics, the cleaning costs continue to be the most contentious point between UK private landlords and their respective tenants.

    The numbers come from the Tenant Deposit Scheme (TDS), and show that 52% of total disputes in 2011/2011 involve the cleaning costs. That number is on the rise, as in the paired-years prior it accounted for 49% of the total dispute. There are a large percentage of tenants who fail to take care of the property, or at minimum to return it to the condition in which they found it.     “We get the same response often concerning dirty carpets. Tenants will state that because a carpet is a light color it is bound to get dirty. It never crosses their mind that they should clean it themselves and they are strangely indignant when they see how much carpet cleaning companies charge,” she added.
